In a strategic decision aimed at expanding its footprint in the healthcare sector, Max Healthcare has announced plans to acquire a controlling 64% stake in Jaypee Healthcare for an enterprise value of ₹1,660 crore. This acquisition, expected to finalize within 30 days, will give Max Healthcare access to Jaypee’s flagship 500-bed hospital in Noida. The deal is part of a collaboration with the Lakshdeep Group, which currently controls Jaypee Healthcare.

Jaypee Healthcare has been struggling financially and is undergoing the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP). The acquisition aligns with the revival plan approved by the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). Max Healthcare aims to not only strengthen its existing presence in the National Capital Region (NCR) but also to enhance its service capacity and reach within India’s burgeoning healthcare market.

The 500-bed hospital in Noida is a key asset in this acquisition. This state-of-the-art facility will allow Max Healthcare to offer a wider range of services to a growing patient base. With this purchase, Max Healthcare is well on its way to becoming one of the largest healthcare providers in the country.

In addition to the 64% stake, Max Healthcare has the option to acquire the remaining 36% stake in Jaypee Healthcare through a future agreement, which would further consolidate its control over the company. The move also reflects Max Healthcare’s broader strategy of pursuing growth through acquisitions, capitalizing on the challenges faced by struggling competitors in the market.

This acquisition is not just about expansion but also about future-proofing Max Healthcare’s position in the industry. By acquiring key assets in regions like NCR, the company is positioning itself as a dominant player in the Indian healthcare landscape.
